The Yoga of Sleep
Often practiced in Savasana posture, a resting pose, yogis will wrap up in cozy blankets comfortably cradling their body with soft pillows and props, like bolsters, to allow the body to enter deep relaxation. YOGA NIDRA is a systematic form of guided relaxation restoring wholeness, tranquility, and well-being.
In YOGA NIDRA, the class may open with a few “warm-up” poses, before students settle down on their mats and wrap in blankets with pillows to be sure that comfort will allow for deep relaxation and mediation. YOGA NIDRA may be practiced in a dark room, with peaceful sounds in the background. Many yogis fall asleep during the session. Students report awakening from meditation emotionally aware and mentally clear as well as rested and refreshed.
